He earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1994, building on a solid foundation established during his undergraduate studies. In 1990, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Loyola University Chicago, which has informed his understanding of complex legal and political issues. Mr. Helt's legal practice centers on federal immigration litigation — His expertise encompasses a range of critical areas, including political asylum and refugee law. He represents clients in deportation and removal proceedings before the U.S. Immigration Court and federal courts.

His experience in these matters gave him a understanding of the details of immigration law, making him a advocate for his clients. Admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions, Mr. Helt has the distinction of being authorized to appear before the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 11th Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. His credentials extend to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as the state of Illinois.
