About Christopher D.

Christopher D. Jones grew up studying numbers and law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oklahoma State University–Stillwater in 2008 and completed his Juris Doctor at Southern Methodist University in 2011. The accounting background shapes the way he approaches legal work. It informs how he reads contracts and parses transactional risk.

After law school he moved into private practice. In 2011 he joined Burdett, Morgan, Williamson & Boykin, LLP as an associate. That early period gave him hands-on exposure to transactional matters and client counseling. He then transitioned into roles that mixed legal work with business leadership. By 2016 he was listed as a lawyer at Sprouse Shrader Smith PLLC and also took on executive posts in the 1031 exchange industry, serving as Vice President at Nexum 1031, LLC and later as President of Lonestar 1031, LLC in 2017.

Those years combined transactional practice and real estate exchange operations. They provided him with experience on both sides of property transactions: drafting and negotiating documents as a lawyer, and overseeing the mechanics of exchanges as an executive. The twin strands of accounting and law make him attentive to the tax and structural implications that often determine how deals are shaped.

Jones holds board certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in two areas: Estate Planning and Probate Law, and Commercial Real Estate. Board certification signals that he has met the state’s standards for competency and experience in those fields. He is licensed to practice in Texas and has maintained practice ties to law firms and companies that handle real estate, estate planning, and related transactional work.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach and pragmatic in counsel. He tends to break complex problems into discrete pieces and address them in sequence. That style suits estate planning and commercial real estate, where small drafting choices can have large financial consequences. He has handled estate planning matters, probate issues, and commercial real estate transactions in settings that require coordination among attorneys, accountants, title agents, and financial institutions.

He currently practices at Sprouse Shrader Smith PLLC, where his work continues to center on commercial real estate transactions and estate planning matters. His present practice focuses on serving clients on transactional, probate, and estate planning issues in Texas.
