About Christopher

Christopher Coyle brings a mixed academic background to his work in environmental law. He earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2007, where he concentrated on environmental law. Before that, he completed a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2004. The combination of legal training and a journalism education informs how he approaches complex technical and regulatory materials.

After finishing law school, Coyle entered practice as a lawyer. His early years in the profession involved exposure to regulatory processes and administrative procedures common in environmental matters. He developed a working familiarity with permitting frameworks, compliance obligations, and the administrative record. Over time his practice expanded to include contested administrative proceedings and advising clients on statutory requirements tied to environmental regulation.

Coyle’s journalism background shapes his method. He tends to emphasize clear, readable written work. He also focuses on organizing factual records so they can be reviewed efficiently by regulators, opposing counsel, or decision-makers. That skill set is useful when cases hinge on technical reports, agency memos, or public comment processes. He has handled tasks that range from drafting regulatory submissions to preparing written briefs for administrative hearings.

His approach to client matters is pragmatic. He evaluates regulatory risk, outlines possible procedural routes, and seeks paths that resolve issues without unnecessary delay. He works with technical consultants when needed. At the same time, he prepares for contested proceedings when that becomes necessary. His work sits at the intersection of law, science, and policy questions that agencies must decide.

Coyle has maintained an interest in how communication affects legal outcomes. That interest informs discussions with clients about public engagement and record building. It also shows up in written advocacy that aims to make complex subject matter accessible for decision-makers. His caseload has included matters that require coordination across multiple stakeholders and agencies.

He currently practices environmental law and regulatory matters.
