About Chris J.
Chris J. Ainsworth earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011. He completed law school at a time when the practice of law was shifting in response to new technologies and tighter markets. He entered the profession prepared to work in both trial courts and federal settings.
Ainsworth is licensed to practice in Texas and is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He maintains an active membership in the State Bar of Texas. Those credentials allow him to work on matters that arise in state courts as well as in the federal trial court that handles a large portion of the state’s maritime, energy and commercial litigation.
Early in his career he moved between courtroom work and case preparation. He handled filings, participated in hearings and prepared briefs. Over time he added appearances in federal court to his practice, taking on matters that required familiarity with both state procedure and federal rules. He has worked on cases that required coordinating discovery schedules, drafting dispositive motions and presenting arguments in contested hearings.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and direct in litigation settings. He tends to break complex problems into discrete tasks. He prepares written work intended to be clear for judges and opposing counsel. He also spends time briefing clients on strategy and likely outcomes so they can make informed choices.
Ainsworth’s practice reflects the practical demands of active litigation. He pays attention to deadlines and court rules. He prepares witnesses and assembles documentary records. He also monitors developments in local and federal practice that affect timing and procedure in ongoing matters.
Outside the courtroom he keeps ties to professional networks through the State Bar of Texas. That association provides resources for continuing legal education and for staying current on procedural and substantive changes in Texas law. He participates in those programs as part of routine professional development.
He works in an environment where litigation often requires swift, tactical responses and careful written advocacy. Ainsworth’s public record shows steady engagement in both state and federal dockets since his graduation from law school. He currently practices in matters that arise before Texas state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
