About Chris
Chris Hoffman is a seasoned trial lawyer and founding partner of Make Right Law, a firm with offices in Amarillo, Texas, and Denver, Colorado. He has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 1997 and in Colorado since 2010. His practice focuses on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as fire damage resulting from negligently started wildfires. Born on February 9, 1971, in San Antonio, Texas, Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. He then graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1997.
After law school, Chris began his legal career as a staff attorney for the Texas Department of Insurance, where he pursued enforcement actions against insurance companies violating state laws. In 1999, he joined Hoffman, Sheffield & Sauseda, PLLC, in Amarillo, Texas, and became a partner in 2002. In 2010, he expanded the firm's reach by opening an office in Denver, Colorado. In 2023, Chris co-founded Make Right Law with distinguished trial lawyer Joe Lovell. Throughout his career, Chris has been recognized for his legal expertise and dedication.
He has been named a Texas Super Lawyer for 2024 and was selected as a Texas Rising Star in 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011. He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards. Additionally, he has been recognized as a Platinum Client Champion by Martindale-Hubbell based on client reviews. Chris is actively involved in several professional associations. He is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, participating in the Auto/Truck Injury and Medical Malpractice practice groups.
He has also served as the former President of the Panhandle Trial Lawyers Association and as a Board Member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association. In his personal life, Chris enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and hiking in the Colorado mountains with his two sons. He is passionate about music, playing guitar, attending live concerts, and listening to vinyl records. His motto as a trial lawyer is a paraphrase of a Maya Angelou poem: "Rather than dwelling on accepting the things I cannot change; I prefer to change the things I cannot accept." Chris's dedication to his clients and his profession is evident in his experience and active involvement in the legal community.
