About Chris

Chris Barnett moved from studying flight to studying the law. He completed a degree in Professional Aeronautics before turning to legal studies, a path that shaped both his academic profile and the questions he brings to legal problems. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1998 and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2008.

Barnett’s training spans technical and legal disciplines. The aeronautics degree gave him a grounding in systems, procedures and regulated environments. The law degree added formal training in analysis, advocacy and procedure. Those two strands appear throughout his résumé and inform how he frames complex issues.

After law school he entered legal practice in Texas. He is admitted to practice in that state and has carried his license through the years that followed. His career has been rooted in the Texas legal community, where he has maintained an active presence and continued to build his practice.

Colleagues describe Barnett as methodical in his work. He is attentive to detail and inclined to break problems into parts. That approach reflects his earlier technical studies as well as the routines of litigation and regulatory work. He has handled matters that require careful factual development and clarity in legal writing. He prefers to let the record speak and to rely on precise argument rather than broad rhetoric.

Barnett has engaged with professional groups and maintains current memberships in associations that support continuing legal education and professional contacts. He regularly participates in programs that keep him informed of changes in law and procedure. Those activities help him stay current on court rules, statutory changes and other developments that affect his clients and cases.

Outside the office he has remained connected to the topics that attracted him in college. Aviation and regulated industries continue to be subjects he understands well. That background also gives him a perspective on risk management and compliance that he brings to client conversations.

In recent years Barnett has focused his practice on serving clients within Texas. He operates from a principal office in the state and continues to accept matters that require careful factual and legal work. He currently practices law in Texas.
