About Chinwe

Chinwe Kpaduwa earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Berea College in 2001 and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2006. Her academic path combined small-college liberal arts training and a traditional law school curriculum, providing a foundation for both courtroom work and legal analysis.

Her first professional role after college was outside the courtroom. In 2001 she worked as a casualty adjuster for Mercury Insurance Group. That position exposed her to insurance claims, loss assessment, and the practical side of risk management. She later transitioned to legal work and took a law clerk position in 2006 at the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, where she supported trial teams and handled research and case preparation tasks.

Two years later she returned to the same office in a prosecutorial capacity as an Assistant State’s Lawyer in 2008. The time she spent in the State’s Attorney’s Office gave her direct courtroom experience. She worked on charging decisions, witness preparation, and trial strategy. Those years shaped her approach to case evaluation and evidence handling.

Beyond her public-service roles, Kpaduwa has been active in bar and community organizations. She has been a member of the Maryland Association for Justice since 2014, taking part in continuing education and professional gatherings. She served as president of the Nigerian American Lawyers Association from 2022 to 2023, a leadership role that involved organizing programs and representing the association’s membership.

Kpaduwa is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She maintains an office in Maryland and draws on experience from both the prosecutor’s office and the insurance industry in how she evaluates disputes. Colleagues describe her as someone who frames legal questions clearly and prepares cases methodically.

Her practice reflects a mix of public and private-sector experience. The combination of claims-handling background and courtroom work informs how she approaches investigations, negotiations, and trial preparation. She currently works from her Maryland office and concentrates her practice on litigation-related matters that make use of her experience in both public prosecution and insurance claims.
