About Chet
Chet Rabon earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1986. He entered the legal profession soon after and became a member of the North Carolina State Bar in 1989. Over the years he has gained admissions before several federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits.
He began his post-law school career clerking for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in 1989. That early appellate exposure was followed by a position at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in 1990, where he worked as a lawyer and handled a range of litigation matters. The clerkship and firm experience provided a foundation in both appellate procedure and trial preparation.
Rabon moved into partnership roles as his career progressed. He served as a partner at Carley & Rabon PLLC beginning in 1999 and later joined Wells Daisley Rabon, PA as a partner in 2006. In 2012 he launched his own firm and has served as founder and senior partner of Rabon Law Office, PLLC since then. The move to a solo-led firm marked a shift to managing a practice and guiding case strategy.
His professional admissions reflect a practice that reaches beyond a single courtroom. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit, in addition to his North Carolina bar membership. Those credentials, paired with his clerkship experience, underline a background that spans trial-level work and appellate matters.
Rabon has been active in bar and civic organizations for much of his career. He has belonged to the North Carolina Bar Association since 1990 and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and the American Association for Justice since 2000. He served on the Mecklenburg County Bar Board of Directors from 2008 to 2011 and has been on the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation board since 2011. His other affiliations include membership in the Melvin M. Belli Society, Taxpayers Against Fraud, and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association. He has also held volunteer and board positions with local groups, including the US National Whitewater Center and Second String Santas.
Colleagues describe a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with institutional involvement. He continues to lead Rabon Law Office, PLLC and maintains a practice that includes appellate work and trial matters.
