About Cheryl
Cheryl Garrity began her legal path in the classroom. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1984 and took her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1988. The combination of a public university undergraduate education and a downtown law school shaped a pragmatic approach to practice.
After law school she entered private practice. In 1991 she worked as an associate at Ronan, Segal & Harrington. That period gave her regular courtroom exposure and time handling contested matters for clients in state court. Three years later she opened her own firm, launching the Law Office of Cheryl Garrity in 1994 and operating it since then.
Her professional memberships track a steady engagement with the Massachusetts bar and with practice-specific organizations. She has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1991. She also holds current membership in the Women’s Bar Association and the Massachusetts Guardian Association. In 2014 she became a founding member of the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators and holds that organization’s Certified Financial Litigator credential.
The combination of credentials and affiliations points to an emphasis on financial litigation and matters that touch on fiduciary and guardianship issues. The certified financial litigator credential signals training and experience in disputes that involve financial records, complex valuation questions and contested financial transactions. Membership in the Massachusetts Guardian Association means she stays connected to matters involving guardianship, conservatorship and related proceedings in probate settings.
Garrity runs a private practice based in Massachusetts that she established more than three decades ago. She maintains an active membership in the state bar and in several professional organizations that reflect her practice interests. She currently concentrates her practice on financial litigation and guardianship-related matters in Massachusetts.
