About Cherie
Cherie Brenner has built a long career at the intersection of litigation, teaching and alternative dispute resolution. She completed a law degree at Western State University College of Law in 1986 and added multiple post‑J.D. certifications over the years, including advanced litigation training at Loyola Law School, trial advocacy at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and negotiations at Harvard Law School. Her undergraduate studies were in communications and journalism at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Early in her professional life she combined courtroom practice with academic work. She served as a law professor at National University in 2002 and later took on an adjunct professorship at the Southern California Institute of Law in 2016. In 2005 she acted as a fee arbitrator for the California State Bar Association. Those roles kept her in regular contact with both newer lawyers and the procedural side of practice.
Brenner’s credentials reflect a steady emphasis on trial skills and dispute resolution. The certifications she pursued after earning her J.D. underline formal training in trial advocacy, advanced litigation techniques and negotiation. She is also active as a mediator through the Southern California Mediation Association, and she has maintained membership roles that bridge law and other professions, including a lawyer listing with the Screen Actors Guild and membership in the California Marriage and Family Therapist Association.
She participates in local bar activities as well. Her associations include the Santa Barbara Women Lawyer Association, the Santa Barbara Bar Association and the San Ynez Bar Association. She also retains lifetime membership in the UCLA alumni organization. These local ties reflect a practice grounded in community as well as continuing engagement with statewide professional groups.
Brenner keeps offices in Solvang and Santa Maria and is licensed to practice in California. Her practice brings together courtroom experience, classroom instruction and mediation skills. She performs fee arbitration work and continues to accept matters that draw on her trial advocacy and negotiation training.
Her current practice centers on litigation and dispute resolution across matters handled from her Solvang and Santa Maria offices.
