About Chelsea L
Chelsea L Long built an unconventional path to law. She studied music at Ohio University, earning a B.A. in 2007, before enrolling at Capital University Law School and receiving her J.D. in 2010. The shift from the performance world to the courtroom shaped a pragmatic approach to advocacy. It also left her with a clear sense of how to listen.
Her legal career began immediately after law school. In 2010 she joined Mowery Youell & Galeano as an associate attorney. She spent two years there learning litigation basics and client counseling. In 2012 she moved to Edward F. Whipps & Associates, where she handled a broader docket and increased courtroom time.
In 2014 she became a partner at Wood & Long, LLC. The title reflects a decade-plus of practice in Ohio courts and steady advancement through firm roles. At Wood & Long she manages cases, mentors junior lawyers, and helps shape firm strategy. Her work there ties together courtroom experience and case management responsibilities she developed earlier in her career.
Long is active in the legal community. She holds memberships in the Columbus Bar Association, the Central Ohio Association For Justice, and the Ohio State Bar Association. She is also certified as a Guardian ad Litem by the Ohio State Bar. That credential places her in a role often called upon in sensitive family and juvenile matters, where outside evaluation and a neutral voice are required.
Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparation and concise in court. Clients see someone who prefers clear explanation over legalese. Her background in music occasionally surfaces in courtroom rhythm and the discipline of rehearsal. She has combined those habits with courtroom practice to build a steady, workmanlike reputation among peers.
Outside the office she remains connected to Central Ohio civic life through bar association activities and continuing legal education programs. She represents clients in Ohio jurisdictions and takes an active part in local legal organizations. Her current practice at Wood & Long, LLC includes serving as a Guardian ad Litem and representing clients in Ohio courts.
