About Chelsea Gomez

Chelsea Gomez Caswell earned her law degree from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University after completing undergraduate studies at LSU. She remained in Louisiana for her legal training, where coursework and clinic experience shaped an early interest in litigation and court practice. Her academic record placed her among peers who went on to practice across the state and federal systems.

She joined Kean Miller LLP in 2013 as a lawyer and has been associated with the firm since then. Early in her career she built familiarity with both state and federal procedure. That foundation led to admissions across multiple federal courts, and she now appears regularly in matters before the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the state courts of Louisiana.

Caswell’s work involves drafting pleadings, managing discovery and handling hearings in trial courts. She handles procedural and substantive tasks that support litigation through all stages. Colleagues describe her as practical and thorough in preparing court filings and in coordinating the procedural aspects of cases. Her practice reflects the mechanics of modern litigation: motion practice, evidence preparation and client advisement on litigation strategy.

Professional associations have been a steady part of her career. She is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those memberships keep her connected to local and national developments in rules, procedure and case law. They also provide access to continuing education and forums where litigators exchange approaches to courtroom practice.

Caswell’s background in Louisiana law and federal procedure gives her a broad base for representing clients in state and federal forums. She balances time between preparing case files and appearing on behalf of clients at hearings. That mix of behind-the-scenes work and courtroom presence defines much of her day-to-day practice.

She remains based at Kean Miller LLP and continues to practice in both state and federal courts. She currently concentrates her practice on matters in Louisiana state courts and the federal courts that serve Louisiana, including the Fifth Circuit.
