About Charles S.
Charles S. Herman practices law in Georgia and Ohio and appears in the 6th and 11th Circuits. He combines a background in environmental policy with years in private practice. His work has moved between firms and his own practice, and he has participated in local civic boards and bar organizations.
Herman earned a B.S. in Environmental Policy and Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2002. He continued his studies at The University of Toledo College of Law, where he completed a J.D. with coursework in environmental law in 2005. The combination of policy training and legal education informs how he approaches technical issues and regulatory questions.
His early legal roles were at Klein, Tomb & Eberly beginning in 2006, followed by a position at Bignault & Carter in 2008. He launched Charles Herman Law in 2014. In 2018 he joined Barrett & Farahany as a partner. Those moves reflect a career that has moved between small firm practice and a role in a larger partnership, giving him exposure to different types of client work and practice settings.
Outside the office, Herman has been active in local and professional groups. He has been a member of the Georgia State Bar since 2008 and joined the Toledo Bar Association in 2014. He holds memberships in the Savannah Bar Association and NELA-GA, both since 2018. From 2009 to 2013 he served on the board of the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority. He also served as president of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association from 2010 to 2012.
Herman’s admitted jurisdictions include the state bars of Georgia and Ohio and appellate admission in the 11th and 6th U.S. Courts of Appeals. He maintains active bar memberships and participates in regional bar activity. His background in environmental law during law school and his undergraduate training in environmental policy are recurring themes in his professional profile.
Today he practices under the name Charles Herman Law. He handles matters in state and federal forums in the jurisdictions where he is admitted and continues to engage in bar and community organizations as part of his professional life. He currently focuses his practice on matters arising in Georgia and Ohio, including work before the 6th and 11th Circuits.
