About Charles J.

Charles J. Zimmerer built a career at the intersection of law and numbers. He trained first as a business student, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and International Business from Florida Atlantic University in 2000. He stayed in Florida for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Florida in 2002. That combination of finance and legal training shaped his path into tax law.

After law school Zimmerer moved into practice that required both legal analysis and numerical precision. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in Florida. He also holds a Certified Public Accountant credential from the State of Florida. Those credentials allow him to advise clients on complex tax matters from both legal and accounting angles.

Zimmerer’s professional record includes the founding role at CJ Z Tax Firm, where he is listed as a tax lawyer beginning in 2014. At that firm he has handled matters typical of tax practice: returns, planning, audits and controversy. His experience bridges individual and business needs. He has worked on compliance issues and on strategies intended to reduce risk under existing tax statutes and regulations.

Outside the office Zimmerer has been active in civic and professional organizations. Since 2014 he has served on the board of directors of the Brevard Hispanic Center. He has also taken an officer role in the American Association of Lawyer Certified Public Accountants, serving as secretary since 2014. Those positions reflect his interest in community engagement and in professional networks that bring lawyers and accountants together.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approach. He tends to prioritize clear explanations over jargon. He breaks down complex tax rules into concrete steps clients can follow. That practical bent carries through to case work and to interactions with government auditors and opposing counsel.

Zimmerer maintains a practice centered on tax law. He advises individuals, small businesses and professionals on planning and compliance. He represents clients in administrative matters and works on transactional tax issues when required. His dual training as an attorney and CPA informs both strategy and the technical work of preparing positions and filings.

He continues to practice with CJ Z Tax Firm and remains active in the legal-accounting community through his board and association roles. He currently focuses his practice on tax planning, compliance and representation for individuals and businesses.
