About Charles Aaron
Charles Aaron Young earned his law degree at the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. He completed the program before entering practice in California. His legal education provided a foundation in litigation and client counseling that he has applied throughout his career.
Early in his practice, Young joined the firm that is now Cardwell Steigerwald Young LLP. He has spent his legal career inside firms that handle family law matters, working on cases that range from routine dissolution proceedings to more complex disputes involving assets and custody. Over time he has developed procedural familiarity with California family courts and the practical rhythms of contested hearings and negotiated settlements.
Young holds certification as a Certified Family Law Specialist from the California State Board of Certification. That credential signals additional study and peer review specific to family law. It also reflects an ongoing engagement with the statutes, case law, and practice rules that govern spousal support, child custody, child support, and property division in California.
He maintains bar memberships in several jurisdictions. Young is a member of the State Bar of Washington and of the San Francisco Bar Association. He also retains an inactive membership in the State Bar of Oregon. Those memberships have informed a cross-jurisdictional perspective on issues that can arise when clients have ties to multiple states.
Colleagues describe Young as methodical in court preparation and deliberate in settlement strategy. He has represented clients at trial and in alternative dispute resolution settings, and he seeks practical outcomes that reflect both legal rights and real-world family dynamics. His courtroom work and negotiation practice reflect years of handling the procedural and evidentiary tasks that family law often requires.
At Cardwell Steigerwald Young LLP, Young continues to work on family law matters in California. He balances litigation and negotiated casework and advises clients on the legal consequences of separation, divorce, custody arrangements, support calculations, and asset division. He currently practices family law at Cardwell Steigerwald Young LLP, representing clients in California.
