About Chad

Chad Silver trained in Michigan and built a career around tax law. He took a conventional academic path. He earned a B.S. in Political Science and Government from Oakland University in 2000 and completed his J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2007.

His time at Cooley came just before a period of early professional shifts. He worked as an associate at Cambridge Connection in 2006. A couple of years later he joined Silver Tax Group as a tax lawyer, a role he has held since 2008. Those years solidified his engagement with federal and state tax matters and set the stage for practice before tax tribunals.

Silver is admitted to practice in Michigan and in the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association and holds certification as a tax professional through Silver Tax Group. He also maintains membership in the National Association of Tax Professionals. These affiliations reflect a professional life organized around tax procedure, disputes, and planning.

Colleagues describe him as steady in the trenches of tax disputes. His work has included tax controversies, return preparation and appeals in tax court. He handles cases for both individual taxpayers and small businesses, addressing audits, collections, liens and offers in compromise. He approaches matters by breaking complex tax rules into concrete steps clients can follow.

Outside the office he takes part in local and national groups. He serves on committees for Jewish Vocational Services and NEXTWork. He is part of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute and lists the Federation of Metro Detroit among his community affiliations as a donor. These activities intersect with his professional interests and with civic engagement in Metro Detroit.

Today he practices at Silver Tax Group. He continues to represent clients before the U.S. Tax Court and state tax authorities, and he maintains memberships in professional organizations that track changes in tax law. His current practice handles tax controversies and planning for individuals and small businesses.
