About Chad A

Chad A West trained first as a business student and military officer before turning to law. He earned a B.B.A. in accounting and marketing from Washington University in St. Louis in 1995, completed an MBA at Webster University in 1999, and received his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2003. Those degrees frame a resume that mixes public service, courtroom experience, and civic work.

After business school West served as an officer in the United States Army beginning in 1999. That early period in uniform preceded a move into the legal profession. He spent a year clerking for the Court of Appeals for the 2nd District of Texas in 2006, an experience that exposed him to appellate procedure and judicial decisionmaking. In 2007 he joined Baron & Budd, P.C., a national plaintiff litigation firm, where he worked as a lawyer and gained trial-oriented experience.

In 2010 West established his own practice, becoming principal of the Law Office of Chad West. Running a small firm shifted his work toward client-facing responsibilities. He handles case development, court filings, and the practical tasks of managing a solo practice. His background combines military discipline, appellate insight, and work at a larger plaintiff firm.

Outside the office West has been active in civic and professional organizations. He has served on the board of the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce since 2010 and helped organize the Dash for the Beads 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk, & Costume Contest beginning in the same year. He has also participated in Habitat for Humanity Dallas Young Professionals in a membership recruitment role, and since 2009 he has been a co-chair on the Dallas leadership committee for Lambda Legal. Earlier in his career he was involved with the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association.

Those involvements reflect a mix of neighborhood engagement and civil rights interests. His appellate clerkship and subsequent litigation work supply procedural and courtroom skills that inform his approach to cases. Colleagues and community partners encounter him most often in local boards and volunteer projects as well as in court filings and hearings.

He is principal of the Law Office of Chad West and practices law in Dallas, where his work centers on trial and appellate matters.
