About Cassie

Cassie Murphy built her career on steady progress through courtrooms and law offices. She earned a B.A. in criminology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006 and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2009. Those academic choices pointed toward courtroom work and private practice from the start.

Her first post-law school role was a clerkship at the Superior Court of New Jersey in Bergen County in 2009. The clerkship gave her early exposure to family dockets and the procedures that shape contested domestic matters. She joined Riker Danzig as an associate in 2010, handling a mix of litigation tasks and client counseling there before moving on.

In 2014 she became a partner at the Law Offices of Paone, Zaleski & Murphy. As a partner she has taken lead roles in matrimonial and family law cases, handling contested hearings, settlement negotiations, and post-judgment disputes. She is a Certified Matrimonial Law Lawyer under the New Jersey Supreme Court’s certification program. That credential is intended to signify concentrated practice and testing in matrimonial law, and it guides how she approaches complex financial and custody issues.

Murphy is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and the District of Columbia. She maintains an active presence in local and state bar organizations. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has served as a trustee of the Monmouth County Legal Aid Society since 2017. Her memberships include the Monmouth County Bar Association, the Middlesex County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association, reflecting a career spent largely inside state and county systems rather than in academic or national policy roles.

Colleagues describe her work as thorough and procedural. She spends time preparing affidavits, financial disclosures and trial exhibits. She also appears in settlement conferences and mediations, where the practical task is to reduce friction while protecting legal rights. Her courtroom work and negotiation practice are complementary; she prepares for trial in ways that inform settlement strategy and prepares settlements in ways that withstand later scrutiny.

She practices matrimonial and family law at The Law Offices of Paone Zaleski & Murphy.
