About Casey T.

Casey T. Hoyer began his academic journey at the University of Oregon, where he studied psychology from 1994 to 1998 and earned a B.A. The study of behavior and decision-making stayed with him as he moved into law. He enrolled at Willamette University College of Law in 2001 and completed his J.D. in 2003.

After law school Hoyer entered public service and then moved into roles that combined legal analysis and decision-making. In 2008 he served as a judge at the Oregon Administrative Hearings Office. That post placed him at the center of administrative disputes and required ruling on contested matters under state regulatory schemes. The courtroom experience sharpened his ability to assess evidence and explain legal reasoning plainly.

Hoyer’s background in psychology continues to inform how he approaches cases. He looks for practical explanations of why parties acted as they did. That perspective can be useful in courtroom settings and in negotiations. It also shaped how he communicates with clients, fellow lawyers and administrative officers.

Since 2015 he has been a member of the Utah Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. The association role connects him with peers in criminal defense across the state and keeps him current on developments in procedure and case law. He maintains that membership and participates in professional events that address trial practice and criminal procedure.

Hoyer now practices from Hoyer Law Office and is licensed to practice in Utah. His work draws on experience both as an adjudicator and as an advocate. He represents clients in criminal-defense matters and handles cases that touch on administrative law, bringing an understanding of hearings and evidentiary rules to bear. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in court and direct in client meetings, preferring plain language to legalese.

He lives and works in Utah and continues to represent individuals in state-level criminal matters and administrative hearings. He currently practices at Hoyer Law Office in Utah, handling criminal-defense matters and administrative law issues.
