About Carolyn
Carolyn Dove built a career at the intersection of accounting and tax law. She began in numbers and moved into statutes. The combination shaped a practice that sits squarely in Texas tax and business matters.
She earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, majoring in accounting and minoring in management information systems. She later completed a J.D. at Southern Methodist University in 2008. Those two degrees — finance and law — underpin the work she does today.
Early in her career she became a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. She also gained admission to practice before the United States Tax Court. Those credentials allowed her to advise clients on both the technical accounting side and the legal avenues available in tax disputes.
In 2012 she launched The Dove Firm PLLC and has served as its founding lawyer since then. The move to found a boutique practice gave her control over the kinds of matters the firm would accept and the way they would be handled. Her filing lists include business tax disputes, compliance counseling, and representation in tax court when matters escalate beyond negotiation.
Her involvement in professional organizations extends beyond membership. From 2012 through 2016 she was a co-chair of the Texas Bar Tax Section. In that role she worked alongside other practitioners to organize CLEs and contribute to section activities. The position placed her in the middle of state-level conversations on tax practice and procedure.
Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She tends to break problems into discrete financial and legal questions. That habit makes her work procedural and pragmatic. It reflects her dual training: an accountant’s eye for figures and a lawyer’s attention to precedent and process.
Dove continues to handle matters through The Dove Firm PLLC. She practices in Texas and represents clients before state and federal tax authorities where admitted, including the U.S. Tax Court. Her current practice concentrates on tax controversy, business tax counsel, and related compliance work.
