About Carol
Carol Bertsch earned her J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989. She trained in a competitive law school environment and then moved into private practice in Texas. Early career decisions set the shape of her work life. She has spent most of her professional life practicing in that state.
After law school she entered firm life and by 1992 she was working as an associate at Larry Daves & Associates. That role exposed her to client counseling and courtroom procedure and gave her hands-on experience handling case work and document preparation. Four years later she took a step many lawyers take: she opened her own office. In 1996 she began practicing as the head of the Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, which later incorporated as Law Offices of Carol Bertsch, PC.
Her practice has been defined by elder law credentials. She is a Certified Elder Law Lawyer through the National Elder Law Foundation. That credential indicates a specialized track in areas that affect older adults, including planning for long-term care and handling guardianship matters. It also reflects additional study and peer review that go beyond an ordinary license to practice.
Bertsch is licensed to practice in Texas and maintains current professional memberships. Colleagues describe her as steady in managing older clients’ legal needs and careful in preparing documents that have long-term consequences. In office work she balances client interviews, drafting trusts and powers of attorney, and coordinating with financial and healthcare professionals when cases require multiple advisors.
Her caseload over the years has included estate planning, Medicaid eligibility counseling, guardianships and probate administration. She handles both transactional work — drafting wills and advance directives — and litigation that arises when guardianship or probate disputes appear. Clients who need counsel on elder issues typically consult her for practical options and step-by-step plans suited to changing health and financial circumstances.
She runs a small firm in Texas where she continues to accept new clients. Her current practice centers on elder law and related matters.
