About Carly

Carly MacMillan earned her law degree from the University of Florida in 2008 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the same university in 2003. Her academic record placed her among a steady stream of graduates who moved from a large public university classroom into private practice. The timeline is straightforward: undergraduate studies, then law school, then immediate entry into the legal workforce.

She began her legal career as a law clerk at Dean, Mead & Bovay in 2008. That first position offered courtroom exposure and document work typical of newly minted attorneys. In 2011 she joined Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. as a lawyer. She spent several years there, gaining practical experience in office-based litigation and client matters.

In 2017 MacMillan moved to Hall Booth Smith, P.C. Her responsibilities expanded as she took on more complex files and worked alongside more senior attorneys. Two years later she accepted a position at The Higgins Firm, PLLC. The move to Higgins marked a shift into a smaller firm environment where individual case management and direct client contact play a larger role.

MacMillan is admitted to practice in both Florida and Tennessee. She maintains membership in The Florida Bar, which appears on her professional record. Those credentials have supported a decade and a half of steady practice across multiple firms and jurisdictions.

Her career shows a pattern common to many litigators: early clerking experience, a period at larger firms, and then a transition to a smaller practice. That path tends to produce attorneys who are comfortable in court filings and client meetings, and who can move between research, drafting and courtroom work. MacMillan’s record reflects a similar balance of tasks and responsibilities over time.

She has practiced continuously since law school and has taken on roles that required both independent judgment and collaboration. Colleagues from different firms would likely describe her as an attorney who adapts to varied caseloads and firm structures. Her moves between firms track with incremental changes in responsibility rather than abrupt shifts in specialization.

She currently works at The Higgins Firm. Her current practice focuses on the matters she handles at The Higgins Firm.
