About Carl R.

Carl R. Gustafson built a legal foundation in California classrooms before moving into the state's bankruptcy courts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003. Four years later he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2007. Those years shaped a lawyer who understands both legal doctrine and the narratives that drive financial disputes.

After law school Gustafson joined the California bar in 2007. He has maintained membership in the California State Bar since then. Over time he concentrated his practice in bankruptcy matters and sought formal recognition of that work. He is a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law through the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that signals extra study and assessment in that field.

Gustafson's career has combined courtroom work and client counseling. He handles contested matters that arise in bankruptcy cases as well as the preparatory work that precedes filings. He represents parties in proceedings where financial restructuring, asset distribution, and creditor claims intersect. His training at Berkeley and earlier study at UCLA inform how he frames legal arguments and assesses risk for clients.

At Lincoln Law Gustafson is part of a practice that addresses insolvency and related litigation. He works on business and individual cases, advising clients on the procedural and substantive aspects of bankruptcy law under California jurisdiction. He also engages with the procedural rules that govern bankruptcy practice and the local procedures of federal bankruptcy courts in the state.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing pleadings and deliberate in courtroom presentations. He approaches casework through detailed document review, client interviews, and an emphasis on timing — particularly important in bankruptcy, where decisions on filing and negotiation can change outcomes. He has experience drafting plans, negotiating settlements, and presenting contested issues to judges and trustees.

Outside case files, Gustafson keeps current on developments in bankruptcy law through continuing legal education and professional association activity. His long-standing membership in the California State Bar reflects an ongoing engagement with the legal community.

He currently practices bankruptcy law at Lincoln Law, serving clients on bankruptcy-related matters in California.
