About Calli J.

Calli J. Michaels earned her law degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 2015. She completed her J.D. the same year she began work in the federal appellate system, a transition that placed her immediately inside the mechanics of appellate procedure and opinion drafting.

Her first post-law school role was a clerkship at the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2015. The clerkship exposed her to a broad docket and to the demands of federal appellate practice. After that year she entered private practice. In 2016 she joined Bloomquist Law Office, P.C. as an attorney, where she handled client matters across state and federal venues and gained courtroom and case-management experience.

Michaels spent several years at Bloomquist developing practical skills that supported both trial-level work and appellate filings. She worked on briefs, motions, and client counseling. Colleagues describe her work as precise and grounded in careful legal research. The experience at Bloomquist also offered regular exposure to Montana courts and procedural rules, building a foundation for later independent practice.

In 2022 she launched Michaels Law, PLLC. As the principal of the small firm, she manages case intake, directs litigation strategy, and prepares appellate filings. Her background in the Ninth Circuit informs her handling of appeals and federal questions. Running her own practice also requires oversight of administrative duties and client communications, tasks she balances alongside court appearances.

Michaels is admitted to practice in Montana and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. That combination of state and federal admission reflects her early federal clerkship and subsequent courtroom work. She has kept a steady practice path from research and opinion drafting at the appellate level to client representation in trial courts.

People who work with her note a methodical approach to legal problems and a preference for clear writing in briefs and correspondence. She structures arguments tightly and emphasizes procedural accuracy. She also draws on her appellate experience when shaping trial strategy, preparing records for potential review.

She currently represents clients through Michaels Law, PLLC, handling both trial and appellate matters in Montana and in proceedings before the U.S. Ninth Circuit.
