About Calla E.
Calla E. Yee earned her Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University in 2009, where she studied political science and government and economics. She returned to the Bay Area to attend the University of San Francisco School of Law and received her J.D. in 2015. Her academic path combined social science and law, an alignment that pointed toward practice in regulated, policy-sensitive areas of the law.
Her early career moved quickly from support roles into legal work. After college she worked as a legal assistant at The Dunnion Law Office in 2009 and spent time as a content specialist the following year. During law school she held internships that oriented her toward intellectual property: an internship at Thomson Reuters Westlaw involving jury verdict acquisition in 2013, and multiple IP internships in 2014, including placements at Sideman & Bancroft LLP and Idell & Seitel, LLP. She also served as a research assistant for J. Thomas McCarthy in 2014, a role that offered direct exposure to trademark scholarship and doctrine. In 2015 she completed an intellectual property externship in the trademark practice at Duane Morris LLP.
Those experiences moved her into practice. Over the next several years she continued building her trademark and copyright credentials. By 2023 she had joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP as a partner in the Trademark & Copyright group. The move reflected a steady progression from internships and research assistance to a leadership role within a national firm's IP practice.
Yee’s practice draws on the practical work she did early in her career and the doctrinal grounding from law school. She handles trademark and copyright matters, including brand enforcement, clearance, prosecution and registration. Her background working on jury verdict acquisition and academic research on trademark issues informs how she evaluates disputes and crafts strategies for clients. She is admitted to practice in California, and she maintains memberships in professional organizations that serve trademark lawyers and Asian American attorneys.
She is a member of the International Trademark Association and the Asian American Bar Association, and she has participated in professional groups since 2015. Those memberships supply regular engagement with peers and with continuing legal education on evolving IP issues.
Calla E. Yee now practices trademark and copyright law as a partner at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP, counseling clients on brand clearance, enforcement and registration.
