About Caleb R
Caleb R St.-Jean attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, enrolling in 2011 and earning his Juris Doctor in 2014. He moved through the law school curriculum during a period when patent clinics and experiential courses were expanding, and he took advantage of those practical opportunities while in school.
While still a student, St.-Jean served as a student lawyer in the Chicago-Kent Patent Law Clinic in 2013. In that role he worked on real client matters under faculty supervision, gaining early experience in the drafting and procedural aspects of patent practice and exposure to client counseling in a clinical setting.
After completing law school he pursued registration before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He became a registered patent practitioner and by 2015 was practicing as a patent lawyer at The Law Office of Caleb St.-Jean. That step moved him from clinic work into private practice and into regular representation of clients on patent matters.
St.-Jean is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is registered to represent applicants before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His background in an academic clinic followed by private practice gives him experience on both sides of client representation: handling the procedural demands of patent prosecution and explaining those demands to inventors and organizations unfamiliar with the patent system.
His practice has centered on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and on advising clients about the steps required to secure patent protection. He represents clients in dealings before the USPTO and assists in framing patent claims and responding to office actions. His work tends to emphasize the practical mechanics of obtaining and maintaining patent rights.
As of 2026 he practices through The Law Office of Caleb St.-Jean in Illinois and continues to represent clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, focusing his practice on patent prosecution and related patent matters.
