About Caitlin

Caitlin Szematowicz built her legal foundation at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, earning her J.D. in 2012 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Tampa in 2008. Her undergraduate degree combined writing with criminology and law and science. That blend of skills — analytical, written and procedural — informed her early steps into practice.

She began working in the Florida legal community soon after law school. Over the years she advanced to a leadership role as a partner and shareholder at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A. The title reflects both a tenure at the firm and involvement in its management, though specific dates of partnership are not listed here. Her admission to practice in Florida frames her work geographically and procedurally.

Szematowicz has been active in local bar organizations from early in her career. She joined the St. Petersburg Bar Association in 2012. In 2013 she added memberships in the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association and the Pinellas County Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She also began serving on the St. Petersburg Bar Foundation Board of Trustees in 2014, a role she continues to hold. These memberships have kept her engaged with colleagues and the civic side of legal work in Pinellas County.

Her professional associations suggest a practice that engages courtroom procedure and community-focused bar activity. Membership in a trial lawyers association points toward involvement in litigation and trial work, while participation in the Association of Women Lawyers reflects attention to the professional development of women in the field. On a board of trustees, she has participated in governance and local legal philanthropy.

At Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A., Szematowicz serves as one of the firm’s partners and shareholders. In that capacity she contributes to case strategy and client representation within the Florida courts. Colleagues note that her background in writing and criminology shapes how she approaches cases and prepares arguments. She continues to work in the Tampa Bay legal community, balancing firm responsibilities with ongoing involvement in bar and civic organizations.

Her current practice is based at Battaglia, Ross, Dicus & McQuaid, P.A., where she represents clients in matters across Florida and remains active in local bar leadership and trial-focused professional groups.
