About Brooke Nicole

Brooke Nicole Stephens is a founding partner at Merus Law, APC, a family law firm located in Roseville, California. Since 2006, she has dedicated her legal career to family law, focusing on areas such as guardianships, adoptions, and grandparents' rights. Her experience in these fields has positioned her as a knowledgeable advocate for her clients. In 2012, she co-founded Merus Law, where she continues to provide compassionate and effective legal representation. Brooke earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and International Studies from Oregon State University, graduating summa cum laude from the University Honors College.

Additionally, she minored in Spanish, showcasing her commitment to understanding diverse cultures and communities. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued her Juris Doctor at Pepperdine University School of Law. While at Pepperdine, she actively participated in the Moot Court Board and served as a representative to the Student Bar Association, gaining valuable skills in advocacy and leadership. Prior to establishing Merus Law, Brooke spent five years as an associate at a local law firm, where she developed her expertise in family law and adoption matters. During this time, she managed many cases, including divorce, paternity actions, child support, and spousal support.

Her work also involved drafting pre-nuptial agreements, securing domestic violence restraining orders, and facilitating name changes and step-parent adoptions. This hands-on experience laid a solid foundation for her current practice — As a result, the attorney can navigate complex legal issues with confidence. Brooke is licensed to practice law in both California and Oregon, expanding her ability to serve clients across state lines. Her dedication to family law is recognized; she was named to the Super Lawyers Northern California Rising Stars list for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015. In 2018, she received the accolade of "10 Best Under 40" in Client Satisfaction from the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys.

The following year, Attorney and Practice Magazine recognized her as one of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in California, further solidifying her reputation in the legal community. Outside of her professional achievements, Brooke resides in Rocklin with her husband and their three children. She is actively involved in her community, serving on the Family Law Temporary Judge Attorney Mediator subcommittee of the Placer County Bar Association. Additionally, she holds the position of President of the Board for Placer Rescue Mission, demonstrating her commitment to giving back and supporting those in need. Through her work and community involvement, Brooke continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of families throughout California.
