About Brooke

Brooke Elvington earned her law degree from Pennsylvania State University — Dickinson School of Law in 2001 after completing undergraduate studies at Rollins College in 1998. She entered the legal profession toward the start of the 21st century, bringing a practical liberal arts background to the study and practice of law.

Her career has centered on appellate work. Over time she set up her own practice and now serves as lawyer and owner of Brooke Elvington Appellate Law. Running a small appellate practice has required combining legal research, brief writing, and oral advocacy. She has built a practice that handles the particular demands of post-trial review and error-correction in higher courts.

Appellate work is different from trial practice. It relies heavily on written argument and careful framing of legal issues. Elvington’s work involves drafting appellate briefs, preparing record excerpts and motions, and presenting argument to panels of judges. She represents clients in proceedings that turn on standards of review, preserved error, and appellate procedure. Her practice operates within Florida’s appellate courts.

Since 2010 she has been a member of the Bruce Jacob Inn of Court. That membership places her among lawyers and judges who meet to study and discuss appellate and trial law topics. Participation in the Inn provides regular exposure to evolving questions of appellate procedure and helps maintain contact with colleagues across the bench and bar.

Peers and opposing counsel encounter her most often in writing and courtroom argument. Appellate lawyers must be concise and precise; briefs must point to record support and legal authority. Oral argument often compresses complex issues into a short time frame. The work rewards careful analysis and clarity in both writing and speech.

Outside the specifics of individual cases, running a boutique appellate firm requires attention to practice management and client communication. Clients facing appeals frequently seek guidance through unfamiliar procedures and tight deadlines. Her office handles the logistical work of assembling the record on appeal and meeting filing requirements while framing the legal questions that appellate courts will decide.

She maintains an active practice through Brooke Elvington Appellate Law and represents clients in Florida appellate matters. Her current practice is focused on handling appeals and related appellate proceedings in Florida courts.
