About Brien A
Brien A Roche earned his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 1973. He completed his legal education in Washington, D.C., at a time of rapid change in federal and state courts. The diploma marked the end of his formal training and the beginning of a long career in trial practice.
Three years after graduation he launched his own practice. In 1976 he opened BrienRocheLaw, which later operated under the name Brien Roche Law. He has maintained that practice in the decades since, handling matters that have proceeded to trial as well as those resolved through negotiation. He built the firm around courtroom work and litigation, often representing clients in civil disputes.
Roche has been active in professional circles throughout his career. He holds memberships in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the D.C. Trial Lawyers Association. He is also listed as a member of the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations have provided forums for continuing legal education and peer interaction, and they have shaped his exposure to changing trial tactics and procedural developments.
Colleagues and opposing counsel often describe Roche as methodical in his preparation. He tends to break complex claims into discrete issues and address them one at a time at deposition or in court. His courtroom style is deliberate rather than theatrical. He prepares witnesses carefully and relies on evidence and clear argument rather than flash. Over the years he has handled a range of civil litigation matters that required filings in state and federal courts.
Clients have turned to his office for counsel on contested matters that might require a trial. The office that bears his name continues to accept cases that align with its experience in litigation. He remains a member of the bar associations listed and participates in their programs. Roche currently practices at Brien Roche Law and continues to handle civil litigation and trial matters.
