About Bridget C.
Bridget C. Trainor earned her undergraduate degree in history and secondary education from the University of Iowa in 1999. She returned to the same university for law school and received her J.D. in 2004. Her academic path combined a liberal arts background with formal legal training, a combination that shaped the way she approaches client counseling and courtroom strategy.
After law school she entered practice in Illinois. She became a shareholder at Elliott, Trainor & Weller, P.C. in 2007, a title she has held since. That role placed her among the firm’s leadership and involved both client work and firm management responsibilities. She is admitted to practice in Illinois.
Trainor holds a mediation certificate from Northwestern University’s School of Continuing Studies. The program added formal training in mediation techniques and negotiation. She has used that credential to add an option for resolving disputes outside of trial when circumstances allow.
Her professional affiliations are long-standing. She joined several bar associations in 2007, including the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Stephenson County Bar Association and the Winnebago County Bar Association. She has been active in the Freeport business and civic community as well. Since 2008 she has been involved with the Freeport Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and served as vice president of that group from 2010 to 2011. She also holds membership in the Kiwanis Club of Freeport. From 2008 to 2011 she served on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Freeport and Stephenson County, a role that connected her legal work with community youth programs.
Colleagues describe her as steady in court and deliberate in negotiations. Her job often requires balancing client expectations with practical outcomes. At the firm she has handled a range of matters that arise in a local practice, advising clients, preparing filings and appearing when needed.
She continues to practice at Elliott, Trainor & Weller, P.C., where she represents clients in Illinois and offers mediation services as an option for dispute resolution. Her current practice focuses on client representation in state matters and the use of mediation to resolve disputes.
