About Brian

Brian Wang trained at institutions known for rigorous programs. He earned a B.A. from Columbia University and went on to receive his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law. Those credentials set the stage for a career that has moved between nonprofit practice and private practice in New York.

He entered the field in the public sector. In 2008 he worked as an Independence Fellow at the Nationalities Service Center, representing clients in immigration-related matters and helping newcomers navigate complex administrative systems. That early work gave him direct courtroom and intake experience. It also exposed him to the everyday problems that bring people to legal aid offices.

By 2011 he was a senior lawyer at the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York. There he handled a caseload that combined individual representation with program-level responsibilities. He worked alongside other public interest lawyers, took part in outreach, and contributed to the office’s efforts to expand access to counsel across the region.

In 2014 he moved into private practice as a founding member of the Law Office of Brian Wang, PLLC. Establishing a firm allowed him to continue client work while managing the operational side of a small practice. The firm handles matters arising under federal immigration law and related civil matters. Over time the practice has accepted clients coming from both urban and upstate communities.

Professional associations have been a steady part of his career. He joined the Asian American Bar Association of New York and the New York State Bar Association in 2011. He has been active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2009 and served as secretary of the Upstate New York Chapter from 2014 to 2015. He also participates in the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York’s Private Lawyer Involvement Program, a connection that links his private practice to public interest work.

His work reflects a mix of courtroom advocacy, client counseling, and practice management. He regularly appears before immigration agencies and state courts on behalf of individuals seeking relief or status adjustments. He also advises clients on the procedural and documentary steps required by federal immigration processes.

He is licensed to practice in New York and divides his time between client representation and running his firm. His current practice concentrates on immigration and related civil matters.
