About Brian

Brian Shoemaker studied law at Willamette, where he completed his formal legal education before entering practice. He supplemented that foundation with specialized training in litigation through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy program and later earned a certificate in dispute resolution from Willamette College of Law. Those programs added courtroom technique and alternative dispute resolution tools to his legal training.

Shoemaker has practiced in New Mexico for decades. He joined the New Mexico State Bar in 1991 and has maintained an active membership since then. Over the years he has worked in environments that required both courtroom readiness and negotiated settlements. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and pragmatic at the bargaining table. He has built a practice that balances trial preparedness with methods that resolve disputes before they reach a jury.

The training Shoemaker pursued early in his career shapes how he approaches cases now. Litigation training from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy reinforced trial skills: opening statements, witness examination, and persuasive closing arguments. A dispute resolution certificate added mediation and negotiation strategies to his toolkit. He draws on both sets of skills depending on what a matter requires. That combination allows him to prepare a case for trial while still exploring settlement paths when they are sensible.

He works from an office at 1303 Rio Grande Blvd NW Ste 5. Shoemaker represents clients in matters that commonly involve adversarial proceedings and negotiated outcomes. His practice emphasizes practical case management, thorough preparation for hearings, and active use of alternative dispute resolution when appropriate. He maintains an active practice in New Mexico, working from an office at 1303 Rio Grande Blvd NW Ste 5 and concentrating on litigation and dispute resolution.
