Brian Scott Winkler is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2001. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Winkler is the sole proprietor of the Law Offices of B. Scott Winkler, a law firm located in Shafter, California. He serves clients throughout the greater Bakersfield and Shafter areas in Kern County.
Mr. Winkler earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Pacific University in 1996. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at California State University, Bakersfield, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1990. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from California State University, Fullerton, in 1988. In 2016, he earned a Master of Arts degree from California State University, San Francisco State University, focusing on California Gangs and the effect of new legislation on criminal sentencing.
Mr. Winkler's practice areas include criminal defense, DUI and DWI defense, family law, and personal injury. He represents individuals in matters involving criminal charges, driving under the influence offenses, family disputes, and personal injury claims. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Winkler has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Kern, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Bakersfield for several years.
Mr. Winkler is an active member of the American Bar Association and the Kern County Bar Association. He is also a member of the California State Bar. In addition to his legal practice, he serves on the Board of Directors and coaches for the Golden Empire Youth Football organization. Mr. Winkler is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to effectively serve the diverse communities of Kern County.
