About Brian

Brian Royster earned a B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. He then attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, completing his J.D. in 2010 after beginning studies in 2007. His academic path kept him in North Carolina and set the stage for a practice rooted in local courts and community institutions.

He moved quickly from law school into firm leadership. In 2010 he became managing partner at Royster and Royster, PLLC. Over the years he has balanced casework with the administrative demands of running a small practice. That mix of duties has shaped how he approaches client matters and how the firm serves the surrounding communities.

Royster is licensed to practice in North Carolina and maintains active involvement in local bar organizations. Since 2010 he has served as secretary/treasurer of the Surry County Bar Association. He is also a member of the District 17B Bar Association and holds other professional memberships dating from the same period. Those roles have kept him connected to the county bench and bar, and they inform his view of how local rules and relationships affect everyday legal work.

His practice is grounded in state-court representation. He represents individuals and businesses in a range of matters, handling both client counseling and contested proceedings as cases require. He takes responsibility for directing the firm’s legal strategies and managing client relationships, while also supervising day-to-day operations. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and detail-oriented in managing case logistics and deadlines.

Outside the office, he has remained tied to the communities where he practices. His bar association roles involve regular contact with judges and fellow lawyers in the region. That local engagement contributes to a practical sense of how to move matters forward in regional courts. He currently focuses his practice on serving clients in North Carolina state courts.
