About Brian P.

Brian P. Kowal studied at the University of Wisconsin–Madison before earning his J.D. from Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in 2006. He completed his legal training in the mid-2000s and joined the Florida Bar the following year. That early period set the stage for a career spent largely in Florida’s courtrooms.

He began practice as an associate at Behar, Gutt & Glazer in 2007. Two years later he joined the Law Office of Marshall Watson, where he worked on matters that brought him regular contact with state and federal dockets. In 2011 he became a partner at Alterman & Kowal, P.A., a move that put him in a leadership role and broadened his responsibilities. In 2017 he founded the Law Office of Brian P. Kowal, P.A., where he continues to practice.

Kowal is admitted to practice in Florida and holds admissions to several federal districts including the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He has maintained membership in The Florida Bar since 2007. Those admissions have underscored a practice that routinely engages with both state courts and federal forums.

Colleagues describe him as steady in court and exacting in preparation. His career path shows a steady progression from associate work to partnership and then to running his own firm. That trajectory is reflected in the types of matters his office handles, which often require appearances in trial courts and familiarity with federal procedures.

Clients who come to his office encounter a lawyer who emphasizes practical problem solving. He manages case strategy, filings, and courtroom appearances for matters that are filed in Florida state courts and in the federal districts where he is admitted. He has built his practice around hands-on case work and direct client contact.

Today, Kowal leads the Law Office of Brian P. Kowal, P.A., overseeing litigation and court representation. He represents clients in state and federal courts across Florida and continues to handle matters that arise in those jurisdictions as his current practice focus.
