About Brian
Brian Miller trained first as an undergraduate at Syracuse University and then earned his law degree from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. He built a foundation in general legal practice during and after law school, then steered his work toward matters that touch families and older adults. His education laid the groundwork for a career centered on planning, preservation, and securing benefits.
After passing bar admissions in both New York and Connecticut, Miller developed a practice that blends estate planning, elder law, and veterans’ benefits. He is an Accredited Lawyer recognized by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, a credential that allows him to assist veterans and their families in preparing and pursuing claims. That designation informs part of his daily work and connects him to issues that often overlap with long-term care and financial planning for seniors.
Miller is active in professional circles that reflect his practice areas. He is a current member of the Westchester County Bar Association, serving in its Trusts & Estates Section and on the Elder Law Committee. He also holds memberships in the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section and Trusts & Estates Section. Miller belongs to ElderCounsel LLC and has maintained professional membership since 2006. Those affiliations keep him attuned to changes in statutes, case law, and administrative rules that affect estate administration, guardianship, and public benefits.
Clients find him in two regional offices. He maintains a presence in White Plains and in Poughkeepsie, where he meets with individuals and families about planning options, Medicaid eligibility, probate matters, and VA claim preparation. His approach is practical. He explains options, prepares necessary documents, and coordinates with financial advisors and care providers when cases require a team effort.
Over the years Miller has handled a range of matters from drafting wills and powers of attorney to advising on asset protection strategies and administering estates. He regularly advises executors and fiduciaries on their duties and assists families facing the procedural and financial challenges of long-term care. His work often entails close attention to deadlines and administrative requirements, especially for public benefits applications.
He continues to practice in both New York and Connecticut, handling estate planning, elder law, probate and administration, and veterans’ benefits matters from his White Plains and Poughkeepsie offices.
