About Brian

Brian McKinley trained first as a business student and then as a lawyer. He earned a B.B.A. in finance from Kent State University in 1993. He went on to the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and completed his legal studies in 1997. The combination of finance and legal training shapes how he approaches problems and explains them to clients.

He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and has been active in the state's legal community for many years. Since 2001 he has held memberships in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those memberships have kept him connected to local and national conversations about law and practice, and they inform the professional networks he draws on when handling matters.

McKinley's work has been rooted in the practice environment of Pennsylvania courts and regulatory settings. He has balanced client work with participation in bar activities. Colleagues say he brings an orderly, businesslike approach to legal tasks. He tends to favor clear explanations over legalese, which helps clients make decisions about complex issues.

Over time his academic background in finance has remained a touchstone. It helps when dealing with transactions, contracts, and other files that involve numerical analysis or commercial arrangements. His legal training provided the framework for litigation, counseling and negotiating. He has navigated both day-to-day client work and larger, more discrete projects that require careful allocation of resources and time.

Outside of casework he has kept ties to professional organizations. His long-standing memberships in county, state and national bars suggest a sustained engagement with the profession beyond the office. That involvement includes attending events, participating in discussions and staying current on changes in law and procedure.

He maintains an active law practice in Pennsylvania. His current work draws on both his finance background and his legal education, and he continues to serve clients within the commonwealth.
