About Brian M
Brian M Mittman built the foundations of his legal career at the University of Rochester and Brooklyn Law School. He completed undergraduate studies in political science at Rochester and earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1991. Those years set the direction for a practice grounded in New York law.
He entered private practice in the early 1990s and became a partner at Markhoff & Mittman, PC in 1994. That promotion came after several years of hands-on litigation work. Over time he developed a courtroom practice that spans administrative hearings and civil litigation linked to workplace injury disputes.
Much of his professional life has been shaped by associations and bar work. He holds memberships in the New York State Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers Association, and participates locally through the Westchester County Bar Association, Mt. Vernon Bar Association and White Plains Bar Association. He also belongs to the Jewish Lawyers Guild and the Coalition for Concerned Legal Professionals.
Mittman serves on several boards tied to workers’ compensation issues. He sits on the boards of the Society of New York Workers Compensation Bar Association, the Injured Workers Bar Association and the New York Workers Compensation Alliance. He is also associated with the Justice Louis Brandis Legal Foundation and the New York State Trial Lawyers Institute. Those affiliations reflect steady engagement with peers who handle injury and compensation matters.
Clients and colleagues describe a lawyer who handles the mechanics of claims, hearings and appeals. He regularly appears at administrative proceedings and negotiates settlements where appropriate. His practice involves medical evidence, vocational issues and the rules that govern New York workers’ compensation benefits. He is comfortable in the hearing room and in front of insurance representatives, and he spends time preparing cases for trial when necessary.
His offices include locations on Long Island, a New York City office available by appointment, and a main office. He continues to maintain an active role in bar organizations and board work while practicing law. His current practice centers on workers’ compensation cases and related legal matters.
