About Brian
Brian Burke built a path from the West Coast to the Midwest and back into the practice of law. He began his academic journey at Stanford University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. After several years that included legal study, he completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Notre Dame in 2007. Those years shaped the foundation of his analytical approach and his early professional interests.
After law school, Burke entered private practice. He took a position as an associate at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. In that role he performed the core work that firms expect of junior lawyers: legal research, drafting briefs and agreements, preparing memoranda and supporting trial and transactional teams. He worked alongside more senior attorneys and participated in the day-to-day tasks that keep complex matters moving.
Burke is admitted to practice in Virginia. His time at the firm exposed him to the rhythms of large-firm practice, including collaboration across practice groups and the demands of client service under tight deadlines. Colleagues describe that kind of work as detail-oriented and often fast-paced. Burke’s responsibilities reflected that environment, requiring both careful analysis and clear written work.
Outside of the office, Burke’s academic record points to a sustained engagement with rigorous institutions. Stanford and Notre Dame are part of a long line of schools that combine broad undergraduate study with intensive legal training. Those programs emphasize both doctrinal understanding and practical skills. For many lawyers who follow a similar route, that combination translates into a steady practice style and a readiness to tackle varied legal tasks.
As an associate at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, Burke has continued to practice in Virginia. He has maintained the steady workflow typical of associates in large firms, balancing research, drafting and client communication. He currently works at the firm in Virginia, where his practice focuses on legal matters for the firm's clients.
