About Brett Thomas

Brett Thomas MacIntyre earned his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law in 2013. He completed his legal education in Seattle and moved into public service soon after graduation. The law school’s clinical programs and urban setting informed a practical approach to the law that he carried into his first role.

He began his career in 2013 as an Assistant Lawyer General at the Washington State Lawyer General's Office. In that role he worked inside a government legal office during the early years of his practice. The position gave him experience with the pace and procedure of public-sector work and introduced him to client counseling on behalf of a public entity.

In 2016 he joined Mills Meyers Swartling P.S. as an associate lawyer. At the firm he transitioned to private practice and took on the responsibilities typical for an associate: preparing pleadings, conducting legal research, and advising clients under the supervision of senior attorneys. His time at the firm expanded the variety of matters he handles and exposed him to courtroom and transactional work.

MacIntyre is admitted to practice in Washington. His career path—law school, a government post, then private practice—reflects a common route for attorneys who move between public and private roles early in their careers. He has kept a local emphasis, building experience within the Washington legal community and maintaining professional ties in the state.

Colleagues describe him as steady and detail-oriented. He approaches casework methodically, breaking complex problems into manageable tasks. In client situations he tends to favor clear explanations and practical next steps rather than technical summaries that can obscure options.

Outside the office he has remained connected to the legal community through memberships in professional organizations. He participates in firm matters and contributes to collegial work within Mills Meyers Swartling P.S., where he has served since 2016.

He currently practices at Mills Meyers Swartling P.S., handling matters that arise under Washington state law and assisting clients through litigation and transactional processes.
