About Bret Morgan
Bret Morgan DiMarco is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1993 and holds bar number 166569. His license is currently in active status. Mr. DiMarco is the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary at Agilent Technologies, Inc., a global leader in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied chemical markets. He is based in Redwood City, California, and serves clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. DiMarco earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1993. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1990. Additionally, he studied International Law, Economics, and Scandinavian History at the University of Lund in Sweden in 1987.
Mr. DiMarco specializes in business law and communications and internet law. He has extensive experience in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property matters. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including litigation, negotiations, and compliance advisory services. He has represented clients in various industries, providing strategic legal counsel to support business operations and growth.
Throughout his career, Mr. DiMarco has held several prominent positions. He served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary at Coherent, Inc., a leading laser manufacturer, from 2006 to 2022. Prior to that, he was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, focusing on corporate and securities law, corporate governance, and mergers and acquisitions. He has also been an adjunct assistant professor of law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law since 2004, teaching corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. DiMarco is an active member of the California State Bar and has been involved in various professional organizations. He served as Chair of the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council from 2017 to 2022 and as a member from 2015 to 2017. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for Girls Leadership since 2011 and served on the Board of Trustees for the Woodland School from 2006 to 2017. He is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Swedish, enabling him to engage with a diverse range of clients and colleagues.
