About Brenton

Brenton Anderson took an unconventional route to the law. He arrived at Concordia University School of Law after an early career in corporate marketing. He graduated with a J.D. in 2016 and moved from corporate communications into legal practice.

Before law school, Anderson spent time in marketing at Southwest Airlines in 2011. That experience left him comfortable translating technical topics for nontechnical audiences. It also shaped how he advises clients: he favors clear language over jargon. During law school he combined coursework with practical training and chose classes that reflected an interest in the regulatory side of business.

After earning his degree in 2016, Anderson built a practice that intersects privacy, compliance and corporate counseling. He earned the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. That certification signals an understanding of U.S. privacy law, federal statutes and common compliance frameworks. Colleagues say it helps him advise on data-handling policies, vendor contracts and internal controls.

Anderson maintains a current professional association membership. He participates in events and continuing education tied to privacy and data protection. Those activities keep him current on enforcement trends and evolving regulatory guidance. He brings those developments into client conversations, translating complex agency actions into practical steps for in-house teams and small firms.

His approach to cases is pragmatic. He assesses risk, outlines options and writes policies that executives and staff can use. He also prepares compliance checklists and drafts privacy notices and contractual language. He has experience counseling organizations on how to respond to inquiries and requests while weighing legal exposure against business needs.

Today Anderson is part of Garrett Richardson PLLC. He works with clients on privacy and data-security issues, regulatory compliance questions and related corporate matters. His background in marketing continues to inform how he frames legal advice. It also shapes the way he presents compliance work to business leaders.

He continues to develop his practice through continuing education and client work at Garrett Richardson PLLC, where his current practice focus is privacy, data security and compliance matters.
