Brent David Peterson is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2005. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Peterson is the principal attorney at Brent Peterson Law, a firm located in Paso Robles, California. He has been practicing law for over 20 years, serving clients throughout the Central Coast region.
Mr. Peterson earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 2005. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Literature in 2000. During his time at California Western, he was recognized for his academic achievements and commitment to the legal profession.
Mr. Peterson concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, family law, and real estate law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business contracts, business dissolution, business finance, business formation, business litigation, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, partnership and shareholder disputes, adoption, child custody, child support, father's rights, guardianship and conservatorship, paternity, prenuptial and marital agreements, restraining orders, same-sex family law, commercial real estate, condominiums, easements, eminent domain, homeowners association issues, land use and zoning, mortgages, neighbor disputes, residential real estate, and water law. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Peterson has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Luis Obispo, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in San Luis Obispo for five years. In addition to his private practice, Mr. Peterson has served as a mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court through USC's partnership with the Center for Conflict Resolution in 2020 and as a settlement master for the San Luis Obispo Superior Court, facilitating mandatory settlement conferences.
Mr. Peterson is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He is also a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Superior Court mediation program. Mr. Peterson is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Central Coast effectively.
