About Brendan
Brendan Lykins earned his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law. He studied core subjects of litigation and civil procedure and completed the law school curriculum that prepares graduates for courtroom practice. Those years set the foundation for a career anchored in civil advocacy.
He is licensed to practice in Kansas and before the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Tribal Court. He has been involved in local bar activities and professional groups since early in his career. His memberships include the Kansas Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Topeka Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association. He has been an associate member of the Sam A. Crow American Inn of Court since 2016.
In 2016 Lykins served as KBA YLS Pro Bono Chairman for the Kansas State Bar. In that role he helped coordinate pro bono efforts among younger lawyers and promoted volunteer opportunities for clients who lacked legal representation. The post reflected an interest in access to counsel and in practical service to the community.
He practices at DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers. The firm’s name reflects its focus and the kinds of matters he handles. He represents individuals in personal injury and related civil claims. His work spans pretrial preparation, negotiation and litigation when cases proceed to court.
Colleagues describe his approach as straightforward. He prepares cases on the premise that clear facts and careful preparation are essential. That often means attention to medical records, witness statements and expert analysis, and then pressing claims through settlement talks or trial if necessary.
Outside of casework he stays active in bar organizations and professional circles. His long-standing ties to the Sam A. Crow Inn of Court connect him to judges and trial lawyers in the region. His association memberships keep him involved in developments in tort law and trial advocacy.
Lykins’s practice combines courtroom work and client-facing advocacy. He handles the full life cycle of injury claims, from intake through resolution. He is currently practicing at DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers and focuses on representing people in personal injury and related civil matters.
