About Brendan

Brendan Kevenides earned his J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 1993. He completed his legal education in Chicago at a time when the city’s streets and transportation issues were becoming central to many civil cases. His law school years set a foundation for a career that has intersected frequently with pedestrian and bicycle safety issues.

After law school, Kevenides moved into practice and by 1996 was working with Patrick J. Kenneally, Ltd. That role placed him in a busy trial environment. He gained hands-on experience handling claims that arise from collisions and roadway hazards. The early years of practice gave him courtroom time and exposure to the procedural demands of civil litigation.

Kevenides is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in state courts and to take appeals when necessary. His work has kept him focused on matters that commonly involve injured pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

Outside the courtroom he takes part in professional groups that track safety, design and law affecting non-motorized travel. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and participates in the AAJ’s Bicycle Litigation Section. He also belongs to the Active Transportation Alliance and the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. Those memberships indicate ongoing engagement with the technical and policy questions that often arise in claims involving sidewalks, bike lanes and street design.

Colleagues describe Kevenides as deliberate in preparing cases and attentive to the practical details that can determine outcomes. He has worked cases that required coordinating expert testimony on road design and traffic engineering. He has also handled the routine motions and discovery disputes that shape the course of civil litigation. His approach combines trial experience with attention to the technical facts of each incident.

Today he continues to practice in Illinois and appears in matters before the Seventh Circuit when appeals are necessary. His current practice addresses bicycle and pedestrian injury cases and related civil litigation matters.
