About Brandy J.
Brandy J. Thompson earned her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law after completing a bachelor’s degree in pre-law at Lake Superior State University. Her studies combined classroom work and practical preparation for courtroom practice. Colleagues say she brought a steady, methodical approach to legal education and to early career tasks.
Early in her career Thompson became involved in the professional life of Michigan lawyers. Her connection to the Michigan Bar Association dates back to 2003. She later took on a leadership role outside the bar when she served as Vice President of the Family Defense Lawyers of Michigan in 2013. Along the way she worked at Kronzek & Cronkright, where she handled casework and client matters alongside senior counsel.
Thompson is admitted to practice in Michigan and in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. She maintains memberships in several professional groups. Those include the Michigan Association for Justice, the State Bar of Michigan, and the Young Trial Lawyers Association. Her participation in these organizations has kept her connected to continuing education and the practical concerns of trial attorneys in the state.
Her practice has centered on defense work in family-related matters. She has experience preparing cases for hearing and trial, managing discovery, and handling contested proceedings. In court she has represented clients through different stages of family litigation, including initial filings and post-judgment disputes. Peers describe her approach as practical and procedural: she focuses on building factual records and pressing for clear outcomes, whether in negotiation or at trial.
Today Thompson continues to represent clients in Michigan and in the federal district courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. She combines courtroom experience and professional association work to support clients in family defense and related litigation.
