About Brandon S.

Brandon S. Dornbusch grew up studying history and languages before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in history and Mandarin Chinese from Michigan State University in 2007. He went on to receive his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2011.

He began his legal career in Michigan soon after law school. In 2012 he joined Stowe Legal Group, PLC as an associate and of counsel, work that immersed him in probate and elder law matters. He moved to Legacy Legal Group, PLC in 2014, taking on a broader litigation and planning caseload. In 2017 he became an associate at Bowerman, Bowden, Ford, Clulo & Luyt, P.C., where he continued representing clients in estate planning and probate matters.

In 2020 he opened his own practice. As principal of Brandon S. Dornbusch, PLC, he handles individual and family matters related to wills, trusts, administration of estates and long-term care planning. He has handled contested and uncontested probate matters, and prepares planning documents intended to address incapacity and transfer of assets. His work often intersects with issues that affect older adults and people with disabilities.

He holds a certification in probate and estate planning from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. That training supplements practical experience in wills, trusts and estate administration. He is active in professional groups that address aging, disability and probate law.

His association memberships reflect that emphasis. He has belonged to the State Bar of Michigan013 Estate Planning and Probate Section since 2013, joined the State Bar of Michigan018 Elder Law and Disability Rights Section in 2018, and became a member of the Estate Planning Council of the Grand Traverse Area in 2019. He also holds membership in the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys beginning in 2020.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing documents and attentive in client interviews. He has represented Executors, Trustees and family members in routine probates and in contested settings where accounting and fiduciary duties were at issue. His practice combines drafting and advisory work with courtroom experience when litigation is necessary.

He is licensed to practice in Michigan and bases his practice in his own firm. He currently practices at Brandon S. Dornbusch, PLC, concentrating on estate planning, probate and elder law.
