About Bradley
Bradley Covey studied journalism before he turned to law. He earned a B.S. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1980. He later completed the Officer Advanced Course in Field Artillery at Fort Sill in 1988 and received his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1990.
Early in his legal career he established his own practice. In 1992 he began working under the Law Offices of Bradley S. Covey, P.C. That same year he joined the Kane County Bar Association and has remained a member ever since. More than a decade later, in 2005, he took on a partner role at Springer, Brown Covey, Gaertner and Davis, LLC, expanding his exposure to complex case work and firm operations.
Over time his work gravitated toward insolvency and related matters. He later aligned his practice identity with that work through the Covey Bankruptcy Law Office, P.C. The office name signals the area that consumes much of his docket. Colleagues and clients have encountered him in matters that touch on debtor-creditor relations and the procedural side of bankruptcy filings.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His memberships include a long-standing affiliation with the Kane County Bar Association and a more recent association with the Illinois State Bar Association beginning in 2016. That combination of local and statewide ties has kept him engaged in procedural developments and local practice trends.
His background is not limited to law. The earlier journalism degree shows a foundation in reporting and writing. That training can be seen in how he prepares pleadings and explains case facts to clients. The Officer Advanced Course at Fort Sill also indicates additional professional training outside the civilian legal sphere, an unusual element in many law profiles.
Across private practice and firm partnerships, his work has involved managing client relationships, drafting court documents and appearing in hearings. He has balanced solo practice periods with time as a partner in a midsize firm, a mix that has offered him different perspectives on case management and client service.
As of 2026 he continues to operate under the Covey Bankruptcy Law Office, P.C. name and maintains practice activity in Illinois and the Seventh Circuit. He currently concentrates his practice on bankruptcy law.
