About Bobette

Bobette Fleishman built a career that crosses the line between courtroom and clinic. She has academic credentials in both law and psychology, and those two strands appear throughout her professional life.

Fleishman earned her J.D. from Lincoln University in 1974. Earlier, she completed a B.A. at San Francisco State University in 1969, majoring in history with a minor in Spanish and a specialization in Latin American studies. Later in her career she returned to graduate study and received a Master of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2013, an advanced credential tied to marriage and family therapy.

Her professional affiliations date back several decades. She joined bar associations in the mid-1970s and has maintained memberships in both the Los Angeles County Bar Association and other local bar groups. She became a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 1987. More recent associations reflect her dual training: she has held membership in the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists since 2012 and in the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts since 2014. She also belongs to the Ventura County Bar Association.

Fleishman’s path through practice has been steady rather than theatrical. After completing law school she entered legal practice and over time began to integrate her clinical study into the handling of family law matters. Her background in psychology informs cases where assessment, custody evaluation, or therapy-related issues surface. Colleagues describe her work as practical and focused on resolving the specific tensions that arise in family disputes.

Her standing in matrimonial circles is long-established. Membership in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers signals a sustained engagement with family law and divorce proceedings. At the same time, training in marriage and family therapy has allowed her to engage with alternative dispute resolution and collaborative approaches where appropriate. She has worked with other professionals—therapists, evaluators, and mediators—when cases require a mix of legal and clinical perspectives.

Fleishman operates from a small firm setting, running the Law Offices of Bobette Fleishman. Clients who come to her can expect an attorney who brings both a lawyer’s attention to procedure and a clinician’s awareness of family dynamics. She currently practices at the Law Offices of Bobette Fleishman, where her work centers on family law and matters at the intersection of law and therapy.
